Mid Century Audio 2X12 Tweed Cab
This is a custom made Tweed 2X12 extension speaker cabinet built to Fender narrow panel 2X12 cab specifications. It has 2 -16 ohm Celestion G12 Vintage 30 speakers for a combined 8 ohm input through a recessed 1/4" connector. It was made of 3/4" Birch plywood using wooden dowels and wood screws screws along with hardwood corner stringers . Covered with real Fender tweed fabric, it was then hand laquered with 5 coats of alcohol cut laquer to keep brushmarks away. The three piece back allows you to have the opening at the top, middle or bottom of the cab for different tone responses. With the opening in the middle you get more mids and highs radiating out into the room from the back of the speaker cones. With the opening at the top, you get a little more low end and with the opening at the bottom, you get even more bass reflecting off of the floor.With the closed back panel, you get a very focused sound coming off of the front of the speaker cones but with a strong bass. The grilll is Fender style Oxblood with gold stripe. The 3/4 " baffle is floated to the front face of the cab to add some resonance. The attention to detail is evident in all of the seams and corners of the tweed with matching pattern lines. New hardware was used for fastening the speaker baffle and the back panels as well as the speakers. A vintage Fender style top leather strap was also used to stay as original looking as possible. This cab sounds as good as it looks and can handle up to 140 watts. No buzzes or rattles.
