SILVERTONE 1484 HEAD
This is an original early 1960's Sears Silvertone 1484 guitar amp head. This is the amp many credit with spawning the rock n roll guitar sound! All new JJ 12 AX7's, 6L6 GC's, and GCG7's. The amp has had all the electrolytics replaced as well as many of the marginal resistors. A 3-wire grounded "vintage" power cable has been fitted and the death-cap removed. The original output transformer was missing and replaced with a Weber exact replica with 4 AND 8 ohm taps. The original speaker cable was missing and was replaced with a 1/4" jack with an 8/4ohm switch. The cosmetic condition is good, it has some wear on one corner of the cabinet. The face is in good shape with some tarnishing on the metal and wear on the knobs. It is in remarkable working order for being a 50 year old amp. Both channels are strong with one clean and one with some overdrive, reverb and tremelo available. Serial number 185.11040. Also included is the rare original dual footswitch that controls the Tremelo and Reverb. (Note: the 2X12 Mid Century Audio tweed extension speaker in the images is not included in this sale).
